Walking is a great form of exercise that helps to burn calories and boost your metabolism. Walking may not burn a lot of calories, especially when compared to high intensity aerobic exercises like running or spinning. But it does offer one added benefit that you might not have thought about.
In addition to the calories that you burn walking, you are also building muscles. And, a well-known fact is that muscles burn more calories, leading to more weight loss.
I try to make an effort to do some form of exercise every day, which includes walking outside weather permitting. I recently noticed the muscles on my legs have become more tone as I walk more frequently. So eventually, if you walk every day and increase the distance that you walk and the speed at which you walk, you will develop muscles which in turn will help you to burn more calories in the long run.
