Be careful with your weight loss plan or diets

Just about everyone needs to lose weight at some point in their life. The weight loss industry is making billions of dollars every year because of this. With every weight loss plan, however, there can be side effects and even long term effects.

Many of the weight loss plans that include pills, shakes and more are not FDA approved. It seems like you hear every day about how someone started taking some diet pills and ended up dying for some reason.

As a precaution, it is always advisable to consult with your family doctor before undergoing any new plan or diet that you want.  Of course, losing weight can be safe if you just start by reducing your daily intake of calories and adding calories. With this approach, you are not taking any drug or drinking anything that might interfere with your body or other medical conditions.

  1. Love this post - losing weight is not the rocket science that is can appear to be. After checking things out with the doc many, if not most people, need to educate themselves - and THAT can seem difficult.

One site I really like is the Mayo Clinic weight loss section on their website. They are tons of tools and information presented in clear, easy to understand, use, and follow language.
