If you were to ask just about anyone if they had ever gone on a diet, you would probably get a 'yes' response from the majority of people. It is just a fact of life that as we age we will gain weight unless we change our eating and exercise habits.
Staying with a diet has many challenges. My biggest challenge is week-ends. Sometimes you just need a break from all the schedules and restrictions. Many diets allow for one day a week of eat whatever you want.
Of course if you decide to go with the 'free' day, it will be very important to not stray too far off the path. Getting back to your schedule and daily allotted calories will be extra hard if you over-indulge just one day.
So if you are on a diet and really work at it throughout the week, following all the rules and recommendations, then why not give yourself a free day once in awhile. See more details on diets and sticking with them.

Look great this summer - start your new diet now!
If there is one thing that we always put off, besides doing our taxes, it is losing weight. Most of us have some sort of plan to eventually make and effort to lose weight.
The problem becomes when the plans are not definite and have no action plan. If you don't have any set plan, you will be sure to fail.
If you are working your way up to starting a diet, there are many things that you can do to jumpstart your efforts.
1. Start by drinking more water every day. If you already drink a lot of water, add maybe one more glass to your daily amount.
2. Stop buying junk at the grocery store. Instead of reaching for those potato chips or donuts, go to the fresh produce aisle and instead grab a few pieces of fruit.
3. Walk around the block every day. Adding just a 5 minute walk to your daily schedule can make a difference.
4. Eat smaller meals spread out through the day. Instead of one huge 1000 calorie meal, break it up and have 4-5 small meals of about 400 calories. Many popular diet plans focus on this one fact alone--eating less more often.
These tips will help get you started on your journey to lose weight. There are no quick weight loss plans --don't believe what anyone tells you. Weight loss must be done slowly, with discipline in order to be long-lasting.
