When it comes to weight loss, you almost need to add exercise to your daily plans. Calorie reduction alone will not help you lose weight, most of the time. As you get older, your metabolism slows down and just reduction of food might not be enough to kick your body into that weight losing mode that you want.
One of the key ingredients in an exercise program is that it challenges you and (at least for me) makes you sweat. If you are doing the same exact exercise every day for hours at a time and aren't seeing results, then you need to change things up a bit.
If you normally walk, try walking at a much faster pace for at least part of the time. If you regularly do fitness equipment at the gym, such as the stairmaster or elliptical trainer, then try adding a few weight training exercises after or before to confuse your muscles.
In short, if you body is used to doing a certain thing for a certain amount of time, then it probably won't budge when it comes to losing those last few pounds. The last few pounds are indeed the hardest to lose.
So step things up a bit and change your exercise routine so that your metabolism can kick in a few extra points toward your weight loss goals.
